Spain

This collection showcased some of Spain's beauty. We set up our base in Madrid and traveled to the cities of Segovia and Barcelona. Our visit was only a week, but we hope to return soon; there is so much more to experience. The excellent food might tempt you to spend your entire trip in the local restaurants and cafes.

Madrid was alive all night and into the morning, with locals and travelers alike enjoying the moment with friends and family. The Spanish capital has a population of more than three million, but it still has a sort of close community vibe. Quite early morning walks and quaint neighborhood cafes featuring regulars. However, we were in the city when Real Madrid beat FC Bayern Munich—it got loud! It is such a wonderful, friendly, and walkable city. You will feel at home only after a few days. The city is fun to explore, and its central location makes it a great place to set up base and do day trips to other parts of the Iberia.

Segovia, a city steeped in history, was a highlight of our trip. Just a short bus ride north from Madrid, it boasts one of the best-preserved examples of a Roman aqueduct. The sight is so impressive that you might mistake it for a film set.

Barcelona is probably the city most Americans think of when you mention Spain. The city is buzzing with tourists from around the world. It has excellent restaurants and incredible vistas of mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. In addition to Spanish culture, Barcelona and Catalonia offer their unique culture and language. Barcelona also has an incredibly well-preserved medieval history and some excellent Roman sites as well.
